I found the map on the ParkWeb Park Note: Great Otway National Park and Otway Forest Park – Kennett River to Princetown very helpful but you may not need it if using my directions.

This walk starts with HEAPS of (quite steep) steps but we knew by looking at the vegetation surrounding the carpark (and the photo’s we had seen of the falls) that it would be well worth it! As you get deeper into the valley, metal boardwalks make up a large part of the track which is a good thing because we were slipping all over the place on our other walks for the day. Obviously, this also allows the earth and vegetation below to stay relatively healthy.

Some interesting funghi alongside the track

Though fungi may not be for everyone, I was particularly interested in some of the different fungi that we came across on this walk (see photo below). Aside from this, the vegetation was mostly very similar to the other parts of the Otways but we were still continuously awed by how beautiful the area is compared to most other parts of Victoria we’ve been to.

The highlight of this walk is definitely the falls! There are a few viewing platforms from which to see the three cascades. It had rained the night before our visit and they were flowing quite a lot but not as much as in some of the photo’s we had seen elsewhere on the internet. Considering that the Otways gets the highest rainfall in Victoria, I would imagine that they are flowing to some extent all year round.
